Sunday School
Sunday School and youth education at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church
“The formation of holy habits in youth is the surest way to shape a faithful life.”
— John Wesley (from his teachings on Christian education and discipline)
At Pleasant Street United Methodist Church (PSUMC), Sunday School is a vital part of our life together, offering meaningful opportunities for children, youth, and adults to grow in faith, understanding, and Christian community. Sunday School meets each Sunday during the 9:30 a.m. worship hour (from Labor Day through Father’s Day), creating space for learning, reflection, and connection alongside our regular worship life.
Our children’s Sunday School programs are designed to be engaging, nurturing, and age-appropriate. Through Bible stories, creative activities, prayer, and conversation, children learn about God’s love and how faith can guide their everyday lives. These classes provide a safe, joyful environment where curiosity is encouraged and relationships are formed.
Youth Sunday School offers teens a supportive setting to explore faith honestly and thoughtfully. Young people are invited to ask questions, discuss real-world issues, and discover how Christian values apply to their lives today. These gatherings help youth build confidence in their faith while forming friendships rooted in trust, respect, and shared purpose.
For adults, Sunday School classes provide thoughtful study and open discussion centered on Scripture, Christian living, and spiritual growth. Whether focused on Bible study, topical issues, or faith in action, these classes encourage participants to deepen their understanding while learning from one another’s experiences and perspectives.
All of our Sunday School offerings are grounded in the Methodist tradition, which emphasizes grace, thoughtful faith, and practical discipleship. Following the teachings of John Wesley, Methodists value Scripture, tradition, reason, and personal experience as tools for growing closer to God. We believe faith is meant to be lived out through acts of compassion, justice, and service, not just held as belief. Sunday School at PSUMC reflects this tradition by encouraging both learning and action—helping people connect what they believe with how they live.
Whether you are new to church, returning after time away, or seeking a deeper connection to your faith, PSUMC’s Sunday School offers a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone can grow, belong, and serve. Nursery care is available during the service to support families with young children. We invite you to join us as we learn, grow, and walk together in faith.
